Above the gorge, through the mountains, down to dance

Our favorite pictures from Kalavryta, Vouraikos Gorge and the cog railway, the mountain village of Planitero, and Lagkadia, where much dancing and laughter ensued.

Cog Railway - Why was it made?

The cog railway in Kalavryta was made for the purpose of making resources available to those high in the mountains. Those close to the seaside having more resources could transport goods to those higher in the mountains who had less access.

Just dancing, or is it more?

Dancing in Greece was a part of a young man's military education. A man's grace in dance was equivalent to thier military prowess and strength in battle.
